You have probably have many questions when faced with the somewhat confusing new world of California Medicare supplemental plans. We have made this website's entire purpose to address these questions. Many people don't realize that being eligible for Social Security and California Medicare is not only a sign of getting older (actually the new middle age) but generally results in some final relief from the high cost of pre-65 health care. With traditional Medicare and a solid California Medigap plan like the F plan (which we highly recommend for many reasons) plus Part D coverage for prescription coverage, you can expect to have very little out of pocket expense. That's the upside to Medicare combined with a California supplement plan. The first step to run a complete quote of the various Medigap plans based on your age and zip code to shop the market. That's where we come in. We can quickly create a proposal for you.
In the meantime, we are in the process of creating a wealth of California Medicare information with articles on each and every facet of the market, plans, and options. If you're like us, you want a website to provide as much detailed and yet easy to understand information up front on a free basis and if you have questions, you can always contact us as licensed California Medicare supplemental agents.
We have simplified the options to make things easier. This section is invaluable for anyone who wants to get down to the real differences with the Medicare Supplement options...85% of Medicare Supplement applicants choose the F plan...find out why here.
| What are Medicare Supplements? | Medicare supplements are insurance plans designed to fill in the gaps of Medicare coverage. Click here for the full benefit summary. Essentially, with your Part A and Part B, it works like an 80/20 plan with separate annual deductibles for hospital and physician charges. Notice that it does not cover what is increasingly the most expensive part of medical care...prescriptions which is handled with Part D. |
| What does each Supplement cover? | There are standardized plans from A to N with increasing benefits through F (and monthly costs). A given company may choose to offer only some of the plans. You can have a custom California Medicare supplement quote created just for you above. Note: Prescription coverage is handled through Part D plans and benefits which is separate from traditional Medicare and California Medigap plans. |
| When can I enroll? | You need both your Part A and Part B with Medicare, typically when you turn 65 or leave a group plan after 65. |
| How do I enroll? | A completed application, your first payment, and Part A and Part B enrollment is all you need to enroll in a supplement. |
| What if I have health conditions? | There are 6-month windows of guaranteed approval starting when you a) 65 and older, have Part A and newly secured Part B; b) leave a group plan; c) your current insurance carrier or plan leaves your area or you move to an area where it is no longer available. There are other cases but otherwise, you need to answer 'no' to the health questions on the application to be accepted. You can download the application here to see if you can qualify. |
